We have developed a specialist department to provide forensic accounting and litigation support. Our forensic accounting team is headed by Martin Berry BA, FCA, MEWI who is currently Chairman of NIFA (the Network of Independent Forensic Accountants). Martin has been in professional practice as a qualified Chartered Accountant for over 25 years, he is supported by another member of the Hobsons Forensic Unit: Peter Tagg (FCA). NIFA was launched in 1999 to create a network providing legal practices and insurers with an unrivalled, local, cost effective forensic accountancy service.  Our membership of NIFA enables us to call on a national pool of experience and knowledge in the forensic accounting field to benefit ourselves and our clients.  It also means we are kept fully informed and up-to-date with the latest developments.

The following are areas where our forensic team has considerable experience:

Personal Injury

Claims for financial loss caused by personal injury can be significant, particularly when the person involved may never work again. They can arise from the results of road traffic accidents, medical negligence and accidents at work. The courts require concise reports detailing financial losses which our specialist team can provide.

Matrimonial Disputes

In a divorce, assistance can be required to find out how much the other partner is worth. We can advise on extracting capital from family owned businesses, provide business valuations and all aspects of structured and lump sum settlements. Fraud We have staff experience in civil and criminal fraud cases, and can advise on the financial effect of fraud, assisting the police or the defense council. .

Single Joint Expert Witness

Martin Berry has acted as Single Joint Expert Witness in a number of different cases, providing a balanced and unbiased opinion. He also acts as expert advisor on those occasions when a party to a dispute wishes to have extra support in dealing with the Single Joint Expert.
